Standard $15/hour
Student $12/hour
Rush $25/hour

A student is someone in junior high, high school, undergraduate studies, or graduate studies. In general, a rush job is a short manuscript (essay or resume) that requires a turnaround time of 24 hours or less, or a long manuscript (small book) that requires a turnaround time of two weeks or less. I will always let you know before starting a project for which I charge you a rush rate.

Since my rates are hourly, you might want to know how much I can edit in an hour. My pace changes based on the amount of editing a manuscript needs, but a general guideline is 500 words per hour.

Obviously, the more editing a manuscript needs, the longer it will take to edit, and the higher the price will be. Feel free to specify that you want proofreading only or to communicate with me about the level of copyediting you want. Many copy editors use a basic scale of light, medium, and heavy copyediting. Let me know if you want more details about what is included in each level of copyediting.

It is not always possible for me to predict exactly how long a project will take. Therefore, the price is not final until the project is complete. I will complete projects as efficiently as possible while maintaining a high standard of thoroughness and accuracy.

You can use this calculator to estimate the cost of your project.

Formula: (number of words in document/500) x (applicable hourly rate) = cost estimate
